Did you know that MOBI has Five Different Apps?
If you're having issues connecting your MobiCam, it may be because of a variety of reasons, such as:
- A poor Wi-Fi signal
- You're connecting to a 5G Wi-Fi instead of a 2.4G Wi-Fi signal.
- You may be trying to connect a camera to the wrong App.
If you're unsure what App you're supposed to use for your MobiCam, or what the differences between the apps are, then this article is just for you.
For some background, we have two generations of MobiCams, and 5 different MOBI apps.
Our First Generation of MobiCams (MobiCam Multi-Purpose Gen-1 and MobiCam HDX Gen-1) were designed alongside our first three original smartphone apps.
The first App is the Classic MobiCam App - a simple app designed to monitor up to 16 Gen-1 MobiCams at once. The second and third apps are the MobiBaby App and the MobiPet App. These two apps were designed explicitly for MobiCam users to send lullabies and barking sounds to their Babies and Pets. These apps are only compatible with the First Generation of MobiCams.
Again, 3 MOBI Apps only work with Generation 1 MobiCams - The MobiCam App, the MOBI Pet App, and the MOBI Baby App.
Those are the Gen 1 cameras and Gen 1 apps.
Our Second Generation of MobiCams uses our two newest Smart Phone Apps - the MOBI Smart App and the MOBI Plus App.
These two apps were built so that users could connect up to 100+ MobiCams and 100+ MOBI Smart Home Products! What an upgrade! These products include the MOBI Smart LED Light Bulb, the MOBI Smart Video Doorbell, the MOBI Smart Door and Window Sensor, and much more.
The Difference between the MOBI Smart App and the MOBI Plus App is that MOBI Smart is our standard default Smart Home App. The MOBI Plus is our Elderly Monitoring App, with built-in Security Features and an optional subscription service that provides 24/7 Professional Monitoring, courtesy of Noonlight.
Only 2 MOBI Apps work with Generation 2 MobiCams - The MOBI Smart App and the MOBI Plus App.
Now that you're an expert on MOBI's many Apps and their excellent features, it's time to figure out which MOBI App you need to use to connect your MobiCam successfully.
The easiest way to tell which App to use for your MobiCam is by looking at the design. You'll notice that the MobiCam HDX Gen-1 and MobiCam HDX Gen-2 are both Pan-And-Tilt Cams. You should also note that their design is relatively different. The MobiCam HDX Gen-1 is white, with a Black Ball on the top, while the MobiCam HDX Gen-2 is Mostly White, with the Top Section being white. Here's an image to illustrate.
That's the difference between the MobiCam HDX gen one camera and the MobiCam HDX Gen 2.
Now we'll move on to the MobiCam Multi-Purpose Gen 2 cameras.
Suppose you refer to the first two images in this article. In that case, you'll probably notice that both the MobiCam Multi-Purpose Gen-1 (the tiny white camera) and the MobiCam Multi-Purpose Gen-2 look identical. This is because our users loved the MobiCam Multi-Purpose model and its design so much that when we upgraded to Generation-2 Technology, we decided to keep the same housing, except for a tiny difference.
The housing difference between the two MobiCams is that their power cables are built differently. The Generation-1 MobiCam Multi-Purpose units have their power cable FUSED into the back of the MobiCam, which means that the MobiCam and the Power Cable are inseparable.
Meanwhile, the MobiCam Multi-Purpose Generation-2 does NOT have a fused power cable on the back. Instead, you can attach and remove the Power Cable from the back of the MobiCam Generation 2. It's that simple.
While this design difference does not seem like much of an upgrade from the Gen-1 to the Gen-2, the built-in Software and the expandability with other MOBI Smart Home products make the difference between these two versions of the MobiCam Multi-Purpose Monitoring Camera.
Additionally, because the Gen 2 MobiCam has a detachable power cord, you can purchase longer power cords and use them to place your MobiCam Multi-Purpose Gen 2 in higher and harder-to-reach places than you would typically be able to if you only use the included power cable that comes in the packaging.
And now you know the difference between our MOBI smartphone apps and which MobiCams are compatible with their specific App.
If you can still not connect your MobiCam, despite using the correct App, your issues may be Wi-Fi Related, smartphone-related, or hardware related.
